Monday Mindset: Lessons from Nature – Embracing the Sweetness of Summer

August 10, 20262 min read

If slowing down this summer was not a choice at the beginning of summer… the heat here in the middle of summer is slowing a lot of us down (whether we choose to or not).

So many beautiful parts of nature (one of our greatest teachers) remind us of the gifts of slowing down and patience.

The flowers do not rush to bloom.
You cannot rush a sunrise or a sunset.

What if we gave ourselves permission to slow down, enjoy the rising and setting of the sun…, actually scheduling ‘slow downs’ throughout our days?
Regrounding in nature – even just stepping outside for a moment does so much for us mentally and physically.

To sit and linger a little longer on the patio.
To savor the sweetness of fresh fruit.
To enjoy the shade of your favorite tree.
To laugh and enjoy quality time with loved ones.
To take a nice deep breath — ‘Thank You, Father.’

Slowing down allows us to embrace the PRESENT MOMENT – with Him, with gratitude, each day, one day at a time.

It’s interesting how rushing does not add to the quality of anything we hope to accomplish or enjoy during a day. Factoring in moments for a few deep breaths, moments of gratitude, moments observing a beautiful bird in the backyard…, actually increases our productivity and completely changes our experience of a day.
Remember, we do not get the day back EVER again.

Tip: Schedule three 5 minute breaks each day for this week. Let me know if it made a nice difference.

Enjoy the sweetness of each day, throughout the rest of the summer season.
From the knee, with grateful heart, love and prayers,
Carroll 💙
